I tend to not worry about it! Weather in the PNW changes quickly, even by the minute. Often times a rainy day will change for the better by session time. I keep in contact with upcoming sessions to check in about weather reports and make a back up plan just in case our day doesn't look so great. I keep my schedule flexible to move session times up to work with the best weather.
I have a list of specific locations that are quiet and easily accessible for outdoor newborn sessions. This is to keep things easy for you and for myself when working with the baby. Also, I only take newborn outside when it's warm enough!
I can help you with that! First shop your closet, you might have something already. Take a few outfits you love and go from there. I usually start with what mom is wearing and coordinate outfits around that. Wear something you're comfortable in and fits well. Pick a color palette of 3-4 colors, neutrals and earth tone colors look great on everybody. Check online before heading to the stores... it's easier! And don't forget about shoes! Also coordinate with the season and location choice as well.
Skip the logos, all same colors, no neons or bright colors... and please no white Ts and khakis ;)
It's super awkward to be in front of the camera, I understand completely! Why do my hands not know what to do when the camera comes out?!
Don't worry about a thing, I'm here to tell you what to do! I use prompts, games, cringe jokes and maybe even bark like a dog to get people to laugh and and make me look like the awkward one. Some tips are PLAY with your family. All eyes on me perfectly posed in not necessary. I'll tell you when to look at the camera. Hold hands with our kids, tickle them, squeeze your spouse (and give them a tickle too!). We'll keep things moving as we walk around our location.
TRUST ME ON THIS... it'll be worth it! All the photos you see on my website are shot at a specific time for the season and location. I have NEVER had a kid not enjoy the extra time with family outside, kids do GREAT. I keep it light and fun and make the most of it while we're together. If kids need a second to explore, I let them. If they need a break, I'll take photos of parents or other siblings. It all works out in the end!
Roughly 3-4 weeks after your photoshoot! Once I fully finish your photos, I'll upload them to a digital download gallery and share some sneak peaks!
